So I finally got my hands on some acaí (ah-sigh-EE) powder! Which of course meant I made the worlds largest acaí bowl this morning!
Although i’d heard lots about acaí, i’d never taken the time to really investigate the health benefits, until this morning that is! like all super foods around today there is a lot of hype around this berry so I wanted to know whether it really was worth the $12.95 I paid for the teeny sachet…and from what I can find, it certainly is!
Some of the main and most well known health benefits of the acaí berry are these:
- Helps to increase your antioxidant levels to aid in neutralising damaging free radicals.
- Boosts your energy levels.
- Supports your immune system.
- Helps to promote a healthy digestive system.
These however, are only some of the many wonderful health benefits this fruit produce. There have been many studies performed and through these it has been discovered that not only can this berry help with basic health issues such as digestive health it can also benefit people suffering from more serious issues such as high cholesterol. If you do plan on consuming this super fruit, I encourage you to go do some reading so you can understand and enjoy the acai berry and its health benefits!
Now, onto this glorious bowl of nutrition!
- 2 bananas
- handful frozen berries of choice
- handful pineapple
- 1 tsp acai powder
- 1 tblsp chia seed
- 1/2 cup natural yoghurt
- almond milk to blend to desired consistency
Simply place all ingredients into a blender or food processor and watch all those beautiful fruits combine! Feel free to swap any of the fruits for others you prefer! Try different combinations, endless possibilities! Top with your favourite granola, or even more fruit! Enjoy!
